Investment Requirements: Equity Investment in a new or existing company
The investor is required to invest a sum of at least EUR 35,000 in an existing or new company that fulfils the following conditions:
- The company does not employ more than 50 employees. and
- Maintains an annual turnover or balance sheet not in excess of EUR 10 million, and
- Pays more than EUR 40,000 in state and municipal taxes.
The investor is required to invest a sum of at least EUR 150,000 if the existing or new company fulfils the following conditions:
- The company employs more than 50 employees. and
- Maintains an annual turnover or balance sheet in excess of EUR 10 million.
No more than 3 foreigners can apply by making a joint investment in a single company.

Documents Required: Share Capital Investment
- Residence permit application.
- A photograph.
- Proof of subsistence.
- Proof of place of residence in Latvia.
- Proof of payment of necessary state duties by the investor.
- Documents related to dependent minor child or child under maintenance. These documents include proof of relationship and permission of other parent for the child to reside in Latvia, if required.
The documents must be submitted after your inviter has approved the invitation letter issued by the Office of Citizenship and Migration Affairs.
Individuals investing share capital in an equity company in Latvia require an inviter who shall submit documents required for the issuance of a Letter of Invitation.
The following persons can file the documents:
- Adult citizen or non-citizen of Latvia,
- Adult foreigner with valid permanent residence permit in Latvia.
- Citizen of EU, EEA Member State, or Swiss Confederation residing in Latvia with a registration certificate or permanent residence certificate.
- Government institution in Latvia.
- Legal entity registered as per the laws of Latvia.
- Foreign legal entity.
The individual executing the Letter of Invitation shall submit the following documents:
- Personal identification document.
- Contact information.
- Pertinent details concerning the applicant along with details of the applicant’s purpose and duration of stay.
- Proof of payment of state fees.
If the Letter of Invitation is executed by the representative of a legal entity or government institution, the following documents shall be submitted:
- Personal identification document.
- Duly executed Power of Attorney.
- Application
- Proof of payment of state fee.
A decision on approval of the Letter of Invitation will be made within two days. If additional examination is required, the inviter will be notified and a decision will be taken within ten days.
